Invitation to co-sign letter to the UK Prime Minister: Accountability for UK resilience

Written by MAP UK & International | Jul 29, 2026, 4:19:13 PM

Businesses, industry and professional organisations recommend a single Minister is given authority and accountability for UK resilience, public procurement and critical supply chains.

Professionals and companies involved in UK critical supply chains, critical national infrastructure and national resilience are invited to add their signature to the letter to the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. To get involved, email info@mapukinternational.com

Coordinated by the Critical Supply Group and MAP UK & International, the letter:

  • Recognises that resilience, procurement and supply chains cut across society, UK nations and regions, sectors, industrial strategy, trade, infrastructure and national security.
  • Acknowledges responsibility necessarily spans multiple departments.
  • Makes the case that clear Ministerial ownership and consolidated accountability will help drive coordination and efficiency across government, and better align policy, procurement and investment decisions in support of national resilience and readiness.
  • States that acting now would strengthen business confidence to invest, innovate and export throughout the UK, while reinforcing the country's position as a trusted partner in international critical supply chains, supporting long-term growth and prosperity.
  • Draws directly on findings from the CSG's UK Supply Report 2026 as well as discussion at the latest Critical Supply Group roundtable in July 2026.

Recommendation:

The letter therefore recommends a single Minister is given clear authority and accountability for the UK’s national resilience, public procurement and critical supply chains.
